Don't judge a book........

............before you read the content. Well hello there! Some of you may have seen the photo of a red haired woman that I posted on my blog page. I asked you to Like if you knew her and Comment if you did not. The woman's name is Grace Coddington and is the creative director of the most well known magazine in the entire world, Vogue. 

Grace has received criticism from many people claiming that she is too "old", "ugly" and not "fashionable" enough to work in such a prestigious occupation. These people are what you call, idiots. Coddington is without a doubt one of the most influential and highly ranked people in fashion. The woman is a genius and Anna Wintour would not be standing as editor in chief without her. Grace is the brains behind the visual pleasure that we are presented with in Vogue. She comes up with photo shoot concepts, stories, decides on what's in (or out). 

The fact of the matter is, fashion is not about being skinny, having the latest trends in your wardrobe or treating others like rubbish. It's about allowing people to feel good in whatever they choose to wear, however they choose to wear it. The stereotypes surrounding fashion are ongoing and irritating. Yes, like all things, some people live as stereotypes. But what about all the others who work in fashion because they want to make an actual difference. They want to let the fifteen year old boy from Chicago know that it's okay to wear pink. They want to let the eighteen year old female freshman from Illinois know that she won't be judged from the way she wears a poncho. Fashion is open to interpretation. Interpret it your way, not the way others tell you. This is what Grace Coddington stands for and I idolise her for it. Don't let narrow minded people judge you for liking fashion. Stand up for what you want to do and show the world that we are not stereotypes. We are creators.
