Sibling Style

Hi guys. Well I interviewed my brother, Louis, recently on his personal style and his opinions on fashion in general. I thought he'd be interesting to interview because over the past couple of years, he's really become a fan of fashion for men. I actually think he would be a really good stylist if he put his mind into it. He's 16, in secondary school and plays tennis. Here are his opinions on fashion and style for men.

1. What is your overall view on fashion for teenage boys? Do you find it easy to look for clothes, is there a large variety and do you ever have any trouble with sizes, fit, etc?

When a new style of clothing comes out, it's usually the same in every shop. I can't get anything different. For example, I go to New Look to look for a pair of pants in a cool colour. If I can't find them, I go somewhere else but I'm still presented with the same colours. Every shop offers the same thing all the time. I find it fairly easy to shop for my size too.

2. What is your favorite item of clothing in your wardrobe and why?

It has to be my chino's. I think that they're a brand new take on trousers and it's always nice to see something different.

3. If you were to have one day where you could shop anywhere in the world, where would it be?

I suppose London. I'm presented with so many more choices and they always have the new trends on offer in high street shops.

4. If you were to live off clothing from one shop for the rest of your life, which shop would it be and why?

Pennys! It's so much cheaper and over the past couple of years they've really stepped up their game. The quality of clothing has also gotten a lot better. I actually find that even girls love shopping in the mens section! There's more sizes on offer as apposed to a more expensive shops, they would only offer a few sizes.

5. What fashion statement do you think is the most ridiculous?

Lady Gaga. I think that she does all of it for attention. Despite the fact that it is for attention, I think she's sending out a good message. She's letting everyone know that it's okay for people to dress how they want and be who they want to be.

6. Do you have a favorite brand/designer?

I really like Superdry. They're great for everyday use. They're so comfortable but stylish too.

7. If you were to go through any celebrities wardrobe, who's would it be and why?

Definitely Chris Brown. He seems to know a lot about fashion. He's a trend setter for sure! I'm a big fan of high tops and he would have an unbelievably fashionable range.

8. What is your favorite accessory?

My high tops! They're different form all other shoes and they stand out in a good way. I also like how there are so many styles to choose from.

9. Do you think that people view the fashion world in a negative way?

In some aspects of it, they do. There are people out there that are so talented and actually want to make a difference in the fashion world but usually can't afford to go to a college or buy themselves to the top. Like Paris Hilton! She used her dads money to make a clothes line and now she's a "world famous fashion designer". All she did was put her name on it. People like that sicken me. They're the reason why people view the fashion industry in such a bad way.

10. Would you ever consider working in the fashion industry. If so what would you do?

Yeah but when I'm older. I'd love to work on making shoes. I'd be interested in seeing the steps taken to get a shoe designed, made then advertised to the world. I think that it would be a really interesting process to be apart of.

Much Love,
Shannon.

More Jewelry......

Evening everybody!! It's been another fabulous day here in Galway and I've been enjoying the past three days off work. Preferably, I would have liked a bit of money to tackle the sales with but unfortunately, I'll have to wait until next Friday. Hopefully I'll find some left overs! Have you guys been yet? Which shops would you recommend? Everyone seems to be raving about Topshop and River Island.

I darted into town today for a couple of hours and spent most of it roaming around the Galway Shopping Centre with my boyfriend's two sisters. I managed to snag a couple of pieces in good old Penneys. I got a neon yellow and diamonte necklace and a long skull pendant chain. Both of them were just €1!!! I have spotted the neon necklace before on a couple of people but didn't feel brave enough and when I saw it today, I thought why not? I liked the skull chain because it had amazing detail. It's not too big either.

Both were just €1 each.

Much Love,
Shannon.

Purchases and Pastels!

Hello all!! I am writing to you in a very delusional state so forgive me if I start sounding mad half way through this. I've just woken up from my post sale nap. It was mad in Next this morning and the clothes were flying off the walls!

Anyways, moving onto the main subject of this post. I've been in and out of New Look all week in search of some bracelets for the upcoming layering trend. It's already taken the accessory world by storm and I thought I'd give it a go (also any excuse to buy some more jewelry). I bought some gorgeous bracelets this week from New Look and they're fantastic quality. Pop into a New Look near you to scout out some new arm candy! So here are the bracelets I bought this week.

€7.99 (for all of them!)

€5.99

€7.99

€4.99

And I got new nails! These gorgeous multicolored pastel nails are from Broadway nails for €8 in any supermarket or pharmacy. There's 42 nails in a pack and loads of different sizes. Give them a go and let me know what you think of them. I am a huge fan of the Broadway nails brand!

Much Love,
Shannon.

Invest now, save later!

Have you heard of disco pants? Oh but of course you have. The Grease like pants have been creeping back up on us in 2013 and I just love it. You can mix it up and wear them to both casual and formal occasions.

Nightlife
Disco pants are great for going out. Number one, you don't have to worry about flashing anyone. Number two, no guy will be able to embarrass you by pulling up your skirt and number three, they're comfortable and easy to move in. They're called disco pants for a reason!! For going out, they would look great with sky high heels, a peplum top or a crop top. You can also team the crop top with a blazer to add a hint of sophistication. Disco pants also elongate the leg so for any of you guys out there who want to appear taller, go and invest in a pair of disco pants!!

Casual
There's more!! Disco pants can also be worn for casual affairs. I've seen a lot of people tackle the sports luxe trend and teaming the look with a pair of disco pants. And if you want to go all out with the sports theme, put a cap and some high tops with it. It's casual but so on trend! Raid your brothers or boyfriends wardrobes for some oversized jerseys if you don't want to buy any. New Look and Penneys have a cool range of oversized sports T's so pop in if you're interested in investing.

So there you have it. I advise everyone to buy a pair of disco pants. they average out at around €20 in most places and you can use them over and over again for an array of different outfits.

Buy them HERE from Boohoo.com
Buy them HERE from nopolka.com
or
pop into a New Look near you for a fab pair!!

Happy Shopping!
Much Love,
Shannon.

New Look Blogger Bash!

Afternoon everyone <3 Well yesterday I attended the New Look bloggers event in Knocknacarra with my best friend, Jean.I was asked to come in and style a festival inspired look and seeing that Jean loves that trend, she was the perfect partner. I had a lot of fun styling the outfits and it got to the point where customers were asking me for assistance because I knew the shop back to front :P I work right next to it so I'm in New Look almost everyday :P It got to the point where I just stopped telling them that I didn't work there and started helping them ;)

I was honored to have been asked to come in as New Look has got to be my favorite high street shop. I've never once gone in there and been disappointed by what they had on offer. For all that know me well, it's needless to say that you don't know that at least 95% of my wardrobe is New Look (shoes and accessories included). I absolutely love all the clothes New Look have on offer this season and I predict that their A/W collection will be just as fabulous. I left with a 25% off voucher so thank you very much to all the staff in New Look Knocknacarra. You were all so kind and easy to get along with.

So here are the outfits. Obviously all the pieces are available to buy now from New Look so pop into one that's close to you!

Look 1: Raincoat, sunglasses and aztec print dress.

Look 2: Long fringed t-shirt, studded belt and lace detail shorts.

Look 3: Black cut out party dress, over sized denim shirt and black cats eyes sunnies.

Look 4: Grey crop top and short dungarees (on sale).

Look 5: Printed strap top and maxi skirt.

Look 6: Lace crop top, maxi skirt and small shoulder bag.

Look 7: Knit and fringe sleeveless cardi, crop top and lace detail shorts.

Look 8: Straw hat, crop top, biker waist coat and floral maxi skirt.

Look 9: Floral print dress and pastel clutch.

Look 10: Denim waistcoat, floral top and denim skater skirt.

Look 11: Black beanie, over sized jersey and disco pants.

Look 12: Crochet top and lace detail shorts.

All of these outfits will go great with a pair of biker boots, welly's or sandals. Accessorize them with backpacks or small across the shoulder bags to ensure comfort throughout your festival weekend!
Once again, a huge thanks to New Look and everyone else involved. I had so much fun and cannot wait until pay day to go on a seriously needed spree in my favorite high street shop, New Look.

Sale Bliss

So yay!! I'm now a working girl. It's incredibly dangerous that I work next to my favouite shop and have access to a cash machine next door to it. It's gonna get ugly. Anyways, I decided to buy a top in New Look last week with the last €20 I had from my paycheck from River Island that I got in January. I got a cool crop top for just €7!! You can get this top in three different patterns so hurry before they all go! I wore it out on Thursday to celebrate the return of my best friends (they were in NYC and I felt lost without them on the same continent). I got lots of compliments on the top so for all of you who are interested, New Look is the place to go!

I teamed the top with my wardrobe essential black skater skirt, lace up boots and gold accessories. The majority of my outfit was once again from New Look. Shout out to New Look for keeping me clothed for all these years!!

Top: New Look €7

Cross Ring: New Look €3

Bracelets and earrings: New Look 2 for €5

Gold Chain: €2 in New Look Sale

Shoes: Born Galway €40

Much Love,
Shannon.
